Why Is This Important?

Finding keywords with little to no competition can help you maximize your ad spend, improve your organic ranking, and generate revenue with lower costs. If your competitors aren’t running ads for certain relevant keywords, you have an opportunity to dominate those search results without overspending on high-competition keywords.

How to Find Low-Competition Keywords

To start, perform a multi-ASIN search in Cerebro by entering multiple competitor ASINs to analyze their keyword rankings. Once the keyword results are generated, apply filters to find keywords with minimal sponsored ad competition. Setting a minimum search volume of 300 ensures that you are targeting keywords with some level of demand.

One effective way to uncover low-competition keywords is by using the Sponsored Rank Count filter. Set the maximum value to 2 to find keywords where only two or fewer competitors are running ads. This will highlight highly relevant keywords that your competitors may be ignoring. To further refine the results, apply the Competitor Rank Average filter, setting a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 50. This ensures that the selected keywords are organically ranking within the first two pages, increasing their potential value.

Once you have applied these filters, review the list of keywords. For example, in a test search for gothic bookcases, “Coffin Bookshelf” had only one competitor running a sponsored ad, while “Gothic Bookcase” had none. These are prime opportunities where you could bid and rank easily with minimal ad spend.

Another approach is filtering by Sponsored Rank Average. Setting the minimum to 30 helps identify keywords where competitors are not ranking on the first few pages of ads, allowing you to take the top sponsored spot more easily. An example of this is “Coffin Decor”, where competitors ranked at 33rd and 69th in sponsored ads, meaning they are buried deep in the results, leaving an opportunity for you to dominate that space.

How Can This Make You Money?

By bidding on low-competition keywords, you spend less per click, increasing your return on investment. If your ad is the only one visible for a relevant search, you have a greater chance of winning the sale. Additionally, improved ad performance helps boost organic ranking, leading to sustained visibility and long-term sales.

Final Thoughts

Filtering keywords using these methods allows you to fine-tune your PPC strategy, identify untapped opportunities, and gain a competitive edge. By strategically bidding on low-competition, high-relevance keywords, you can improve your ROI and increase your sales without overspending.
